Syphon Filter: Logan’s Shadow

Syphon Filter: Logan’s Shadow is a third-person shooter stealth video game developed by SCE Bend Studio and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation Portable and PlayStation 2. It is the sixth game and final game in the Syphon Filter series.

After being on hiatus for a few months following the traumatic events of Dark Mirror, Gabriel Logan is called into action when a dangerous new technology is hijacked by a criminal extremist group. In a story that takes him from the depths of the Indian Ocean to the deserts of the Middle East, Gabe is faced with the possibility that his long time partner, Lian Xing is a double agent. The storyline this time around is penned by Greg Rucka, author of the Queen and Country series of novels and graphic novels.

His style of storytelling fits the series and characters extremely well, and the plot is just full of twists, turns, technobabble and ever-increasing tension. Most of the same voice actors have returned, and like the previous title, do a good job of bringing their characters to life in a comic booky kind of way. Gabe is his usual gruff-voiced self and has his typical array of well planned one liners here and there. As usual, there are a few subtle, humorous moments during the game that come out of nowhere. The game’s nicely paced story unfolds in both pre-rendered and real-time cutscenes that are intermixed within and between the missions and chapters.
